UGC NET exam is conducted by NTA to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and the post of Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.
It will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of two papers, i.e., Paper I and II conducted in a single sessions (No break between Paper 1 & Paper 2). Candidates are required to appear for both the papers in order to be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only.
Know exam pattern and syllabus
The first step towards effective exam preparation is being well-versed with UGC net exam pattern and syllabus.
Check your subject’s syllabus, from there see where you are good at and areas where you need more improvements. Revise what you have read at that same time read new topics which you think is appropriate according to the exam.
Make a list of Important topics
Don’t stressed on the whole syllabus. Go for more relevant topics and practice objective questions from those topics .This will help preparing for the exam at a fast pace.
Practice previous year questions
Practice previous year questions to know your ups and downs. Improve in areas which have more focus in the previous year’s questions!
Focus on paper-1
Focus on paper-1 as it decides your merit for the JRF. To be true , I feel most of the students are not able to clear this exam because of their lack of preparation in paper 1.
Good study material
Don’t try all books available out there but go for any book which have basics written clearly. Read books you can understand properly.I would suggest kvs madaan book for paper-1 and for paper-2 prefer Ignou study material and access e-gyankosh portal which will be of immense help for the authentic content.
Last but not the least help others in learning together what you have learned. Helping others understand a topic really helps in more knowledge for you!! Yeah! A lot!!
